You may not associate Russia with a burgeoning electronic music scene but you'd be wrong. The Dars label have two great compilations of Russian electronic music entitled 'Music Of Deneb.2099' and 'Slavosonic' Both are really cool little snapshots of this underground subculture. You can hear some of the influences here but more apparent is the influence of the environment. Sure, there are warm electronica moments on here but the overall feel is cold and dark and there is a feeling of alienation running through some of the tracks. I'm not familiar with any of the artists on these but I must say they are all accomplished, talented producers. Featuring Eu, Clapan, Hdj Tom, Add, Nole Plastique, Zavoloka, AA1, Indu Mezu, Cellar Door, Lazyfish etc. Well worth checking out I'd say. Long live the underground.

Mombus and Bacillus Orchestra, - the project from Murmansk, driving which force - Sergey Bakanev. A magic mix folktronica, acoustic tools and electronic music. A product of joint creativity Mombus and the various Murmansk musicians, participating in the various Russian compilations devoted to experimental and easy music, and also released some solo albums in Russia (Kama, Cheburec) and behind its limits (Laridae, Nishi). The participant of Russian - German festival of electronic music Sonarctica (March 2006, Murmansk) where besides known Russian musicians musicians of label Sonig (Cologne) took part: Frank Dommert, F.X.Randomiz, Tim Elzer, Schlammpeitziger, Ulrike Goeken, C-Schulz, Waltraud Blischke.
Stud feat NetLenka - Alexey Devjanin aka Stud, known still as the founder of project Gultskra Artikler (Thinner, Lampse) and charming singer NetLenka - a voice Moscow Ethnica music project. Album Stud - LSAD is issued on Dars records and is accessible at present too.
Volga - NN Kikkoman. NN Kikkoman is Nikolay Nebogatova's artistic pseudonym, the participant of project Spies Boys and one of directors NN Records. Volga is a unique project on Moscow music scene. It successfully combines experimental electronics, contemporary dance rhythms and the original Russian folklore. Pagan psychedelia and shamanism, authentic melodies and lyrics of ancient Russia (12th-19th centuries) mixed with urban aesthetics and contemporary video art are the essential components of Volga performances.

Zavoloka - the Ukrainian project Katya Zavoloka, issued on label Nexsound, the based Andrey Kiritchenko. One of the greatest musical projects from Ukraine. Last album - joint with German producer AGF. The track submitted on compilation, combines slavic female singing and an experimental musical basis.
Denis Korsunsky aka Clapan, - which tracks are an ornament of all compilations on Dars records, have come later in an album « Lullaby of 21 centuries », in post-IDM a genre, let released American label Somia. Matsutake - Evgeniy Gorbunov, a musician living in Khabarovsk - a city in the Russian Far East. The sound of the project is based on computer improvisation with acoustic sounds. After processing and configuration sounds are built in freakish pictures, having separated from subjects from which have been once taken. They start to live own life, in their communications there is no neither sense, nor a plot, everything, that we need - to observe from the party as sounds that are strewed, as if from a bag run into blessed minimalism outvoice each other mutter something amicably and harmoniously.

The electronic variations created FraweWatcher (Dmitry Makarov), are constant experiments with making details, laborious search of an ideal sound. In genuine, not sample creativity much depends on the author, and only integral persons with thin soul are capable to create rather qualitative product. FraweWatcher just concerns to such musicians.
Aa1 - Vasily Kuznetsov from Ekaterinburg, - the Ural master of performance, which concept are always unexpected and very interesting. All compositions are created with the help of own algorithms developed in program PD environment and sounds, basically written down with own hand from a microphone. In a track «Vodking with ghosts» the sounds taken from an accordion …. and a case from it are used. The name of a track reflects a visual image of the author of music - the empty wooden house, the simple Russian man sits at the big table and drinks vodka, not noticing flying around of ghosts which clap doors, creak, rustle and try to intimidate him.
Nole plastique - the project working in a genre of electroacoustics. From his debut on Dars records in compilation “Music of Deneb.2099”, the project was issued on such labels as 20kbps rec, Otium, Electrosound. In track Unsucsessfull Variations, themes of great composer Rakhmaninov are used. It sounds similarly to mixture of Russian piano works and Oval’s music. This music very vital also is worthy to be end of this collection.
