Oleg Semenovyh was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia. he began engaging seriously
in music in 1987 when joining the group "tehnika bezopasnosti" (which means literally "the safety precautions" or just TB)
as the guitar player and the author of the band's lyrics. The group played psychedelic guitar music and produced a number of albums.
from 1992 to 1994 he worked as a solo artist using his real name oleg semenovyh. since 2003 he has been experimenting with electronic
music using the pseudonym ILI and aljon.
Oleg does music under a name aljon therefore there is an album which has left on Portuguese enoughrecords,
and subsequently as I L I, lets out a little EP in German tonAtom, enoughrecords, EP with Bulgarian musician
Sector in camomille, participates in compilations on dars records and tribute to COIL "In memoriam Jhonn Balance” (fulldozer
and nocharizma labels) …
The Album " Ask me: what is it? " Includes the tracks written during 2004-2005.
ILI plays at the South-Ural festivals of electronic music Electroline (Chelyabinsk)
and I.D.M.ology festival in Ekaterinburg together with other actors of a label: Nightech, Neotnas, Aa1, CellarDoor.
Nomination of the musical newspaper "BlokNot" - the Best electronic project in Chelyabinsk of year 2005.
“Oleg Semenovyh, aka ILI, confirms the superiority in the field of electronic music of city not casually.
It not simply leader of unique label Dars Records and the operating musician. It for today, perhaps,
the most talented and original representative electronic music of Chelyabinsk.
At all present variety of projects on a local experimental stage ILI - the unique person
who can be named with all boldness worthy ranks of the project of year.
Album ILI – “Ask me: what is it”, which has released on Dars records, really, is fine. ”

... Also on Dars is a rather good CD 'Ask Me: What Is IT?" By ILI.
'Terevaz' is futuristic electronic music at its finest, its sinister sounding and the beats are solid.
There are offbeat crunchy tracks on here, strange melodies and some difficult experimental bits.
I think this may appeal to Skam / Autechre heads.
Connexion Bizarre
From the depths of Russia (seriously, look up Chelyabinsk) comes a fascinating release consisting of sticky,
Autechre-inspired IDM and glitch. Though perhaps not the most unique or cutting-edge project to be classified
as such, what ILI has accomplished with "Ask Me: What Is It?" is nevertheless arresting in its abstract,
polyrhythmic quality. Both melancholic and otherworldly, this brand of experimental electronic music is rich
with melodic timbres and finely manufactured sounds.
Whether limping along like an automaton on crutches ("Bels Uule"), or perhaps skipping and tripping down
stairs instead ("For Your" and "Fhrul"), the beats on "Ask Me: What Is It?" are never straightforward.
These entropic cadences are like chaotic streams of pebbles - cascading, falling and splashing among rocks
and sand, rippling and reverberating like water. The fractured beats are overlaid with lush, breathy atmospherics
("Gate To Siberia"), disembodied vocal snippets ("Kren" and "Recuno"), and insectile grooves that crawl above,
below and through finely molded minutiae ("Terevaz" and "Sabl"). It is deeply penetrating, psychedelic music.
With each successive listen, "Ask Me: What Is It?" becomes synonymous with ILI's attentiveness to motion and detail.
Concerning these attributes, the album remains steadfast in its glitchy dedication. Insect metaphors continue
to be appropriate in describing the contrasting delicate-versus-substantial elements of the music's varying
inflections, whether melodic or dissonant. From the trancey synth stabs of the title track, to the infusion of
far eastern flavors in both sound and structure ("Massa Ra"), ILI offers a product that delivers guaranteed
mind-bending satisfaction, but little more. "Ask Me: What Is It?" feels soulless, and it is anyone's guess
if that is intentional or not.

Die Ideenflaute scheint weggewischt und der Daumen zeigt nach oben. Diese Position verlasst er dann auch bis zum Ende nicht mehr.

be honest, you know them as well: those books called "synthesizer von gestern" (yesterday's synthesizer) by matthias becker which are famous within th
is circle of hardware fans. and even more famous are the accompanying cds in heavenly blue,
heavenly green and heavenly orange, filled with sound samples from the infamous bigmoog to
the crispy wasp (with spider)... enough stuff for 1001 nights of synthesizer dreams.
.... it sounds like the last upcoming uproar in the kingdom of the growling giants

provide a dance of fire and ice as they exchange melodies. From gazeous clouds to solid manufacturing of beats.

Glitchy polyrhythms from Russia. Oleg Semenovyh's tours of the post-IDM landscape are unpredictable and minutely detailed, encompassing all manner of sound sources. His styles include experimental, neo-IDM, glitch, and others.
